Two short films by students from the Isaacson School at Colorado Mountain College are part of a student filmmaker series airing this fall on Rocky Mountain PBS.

The shorts – “Rocky Mountain Hive” and “Big Air Max” – are included in “In Short: Student Films from Across Colorado,” a series running through Nov. 25 that was created in partnership with Colorado College.

“Rocky Mountain Hive” aired Oct. 14, though it can still be viewed online. “Big Air Max” will air Oct. 21 at 10:30 p.m. Both films can be seen online on Rocky Mountain PBS.

Produced by Joseph Gamble, associate professor at the Isaacson School for Communication, Arts and Media at CMC, “Rocky Mountain Hive” features the challenges of beekeeping in Colorado. Eight student filmmakers participated, including scouting locations, selecting a musical score, interviewing bee experts, filming and editing the final piece.

“Big Air Max,” which premiered at the 2017 5Point Film Festival in Carbondale, follows Snowmass native Max Grange, who has spastic quadriplegia, as he skis, plays music, works with animals and lives his life. Four student filmmakers created the short, which received a standing ovation at the festival.
