In spring 2020 Patricia Herrera gave the student address and graduated from CMC Vail Valley with a bachelor’s degree in leadership and management.

Patricia Herrera not only graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree, she was also selected to give CMC Vail Valley’s student address in the college’s virtual commencement ceremony, which launched May 15.

“I picked my major of leadership and management in order to gain professional insight on how to make a business more successful and effective,” she said.

Herrera said the attention and extra care she received from CMC employees buoyed her along the way.

“CMC has an incredibly supportive team,” she said. “The staff and faculty are dedicated to their students and they are willing to work individually with students to help them get where they want to go.

“CMC has compassionate, thoughtful staff who care about the students and want to be a part of their journey,” Herrera said. “Every single staff member has helped in one way or another. I feel like they have been my biggest advocates on this journey.”

As she moves forward in her career, she is taking those same values with her.

“My time at CMC has given me the motivation and support to help others in their future endeavors,” she said. “It has given me a fulfilling purpose in life.”
