A pinning ceremony for Colorado Mountain College’s Summit County nursing students earning associate degrees will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 6, in Breckenridge.
Each pinning ceremony shares the success of students with family and friends, while celebrating their dedication to the profession of nursing. It is a universal symbol of the pledge that nursing students make to the professional practice of nursing.
The pinning ceremony is a graduation tradition, based on a badge that Florence Nightingale received in the 1860s for her work caring for injured soldiers during the Crimean War. She, in turn, honored other nurses with badges, or pins.
A reception will follow the pinning ceremony. Colorado Mountain College in Breckenridge is at 107 Denison Placer Road. For more information, call Kim Orr at 970-989-1322.
