Alexandra Yajko named outstanding professional in philanthropy

Colorado’s best givers receive honors on National Philanthropy Day

A dozen individuals and organizations were recognized Friday at the 20th annual National Philanthropy Day in Colorado awards event for their philanthropic and volunteer work.

Denver-based Qwest was presented with the 2009 outstanding large business or corporation award for its charity, which included nearly $6.8 million in donations to nonprofits through the Qwest Foundation.

Others recognized included: Delta Dental of Colorado, outstanding small business or corporation; Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado, outstanding foundation; Noel and Tammy Cunningham, outstanding philanthropists; Alexandra Yajko of Colorado Mountain College, outstanding professional in philanthropy; Italians of America, outstanding service organization; Pres Askew, outstanding volunteer; Patty Cook and Sarah Schnabel, outstanding volunteer fundraisers; Jenna County, outstanding youth; and Arapahoe High School Student Council, outstanding youth group.
