We are deeply saddened to say that Jonathan Aguirre, a full-time second-year student at our Roaring Fork Campus who was working toward an associate of arts degree, passed away last week as a result of injuries he received in a car accident Nov. 24. A 2008 graduate of Glenwood Springs High School, he was an outstanding young man with great promise, an Alpine Bank Scholar.

Words can’t begin to express how enormously saddened we are by this tragic loss. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Members of the college community have reached out to the family and taken part in various memorial services to show our support.

In addition, we are working with Colorado West to make counseling available to any of our students or employees who feel that need. Anyone may walk in to talk with a CMC college counselor: Debra Burleigh/Cody Chamberlain at the Lappala Center, Debbie Arnold at the Glenwood Center and Jen Brennan and Lisa Runck at Spring Valley.

An account has been set up in Jonathan’s name at Alpine Bank to help his family cover medical costs. Contributions may be made at any Alpine Bank location.
