Submissions showcase work of Roaring Fork Campus and Graphic Design graduate
Colorado Mountain College marketing efforts recently garnered nine regional Medallion awards in a competition among two-year colleges in a six-state region. The College received six gold awards, two silver and one bronze for work that ranged from class schedules to billboards.
Marketing & Communications Editor Sara Fowler directed most of the projects, and received the awards on behalf of CMC at the regional conference of the National Council of Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) in San Antonio, October 19-21.
The Colorado Mountain College Central Marketing Department received gold awards for viewbook, registration ads, admissions postcard, “Bread” campaign and program brochures. Roaring Fork Campus received a gold award for the spring 2009 class schedule, designed by Beth Zukowski. Silver awards were given for registration ads and RTD bus ads. The redesigned CMC student handbook received a bronze award.
“These awards are especially meaningful,” said Fowler, “because the projects were designed by a CMC Graphic Design graduate.”
Crystal Aschmann Sutherland was the primary designer on the award-winning projects for Central Marketing. Sutherland has also worked for the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association and other clients. On the judging sheet for the viewbook designed by Sutherland, judges wrote “incredible graphics.”
Judges commented that the registration ads, also designed by Sutherland were “simple, concise—good layout.” Of the Bread campaign for recruiting in-district recent high school graduates, judges wrote, “clever concept and great follow through on all pieces, both design and message. I loved the shopping bags.”
Colorado Mountain College competed against approximately 375 entries from two-year colleges in a region which includes Texas, Arkansas, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Colorado and New Mexico.
