Lake County High School students, CMC students and staff, and community members are among the winners in this year’s Common Reader art and creative writing contest through Colorado Mountain College.

CMC’s most recent Common Reader book selection, “Fig” by Sarah Elizabeth Schantz, served as the inspiration for the annual contest. College students, faculty and community members read the book together, and the author visited several campuses to discuss “Fig,” a portrayal of a young woman’s often-difficult childhood.

Bianca Godina of Rifle won third place for “Forgive and Forget Kid.”

Colorado Mountain College is currently selecting a new book for the 2019 Common Reader group read, which will again feature an art and creative writing competition.
