Colorado Mountain College has entered into a new tuition reciprocity agreement with the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education to provide qualifying out-of-state residents with lower tuition.
CMC joins 22 other two-year and four-year public colleges and universities in Colorado who are part of the participating Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) agreement. Eligible new CMC students from the designated WUE states can receive up to 52 percent off out-of-state tuition, a $4,685 annual discount for a student taking on 30 credit hours, according to the WUE website.
Residents of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and the U.S. Pacific territories are eligible to apply for the WUE tuition rate. Current and former CMC students or students who have previously taken a CMC class will not be eligible.
“The WUE program helps states avoid the costly duplication of programs and facilities,” said Dr. Brad Tyndall, senior vice president for academic affairs at Colorado Mountain College. “And making it a little easier for residents of other states to attend here will help to make our student body more diverse, enriching our local students’ college experience.”
WUE tuition applies to a list of designated programs offered at each college, including individual online classes, but it does not apply to degrees earned entirely online. WUE students are required to meet academic requirements to remain eligible for the duration of their college attendance.
Interested students can find more information about applying for WUE at the www.coloradomtn.edu/wue or by calling CMC’s central admissions office at 800-621-8559 or 970-945-8691.
