Colorado Mountain College will present the Prototype Lab Grand Opening and Isaacson School Portfolio Show, an open house in the college’s new prototype lab at CMC Spring Valley on May 2. The event is free and the public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
The afternoon will begin with the lab’s grand opening from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. An open house from 4:15 to 5 p.m. will allow community members to see what the new lab offers students. From 4:30 to 7 p.m. the Isaacson School Portfolio Show will feature students’ work from the school’s focus areas of professional photography, digital media and graphic design.
The grand opening will also feature Katie Carlsen, program coordinator for The Aspen Institute’s Aspen Community Programs. Carlsen will speak about the Bauhaus, a German art movement with surprising connections to the Roaring Fork Valley and the Isaacson School. Numerous local events are being held to celebrate the Bauhaus movement’s 100th anniversary this year.
The Prototype Lab Grand Opening and Isaacson School Portfolio Show will take place from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at CMC Spring Valley, 3000 County Road 114, Glenwood Springs. To learn more about the Isaacson School, go to isaacsonschool.org.
