Colorado Mountain College Rifle will hold its fall semester commencement ceremony at 6 p.m. on Dec. 15 at the Clough Auditorium on campus. Members of the community are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Rifle native and prominent Coloradan Russell George will give the graduation address.
In addition to granting associate degrees, certificates of occupational educational proficiency and high school equivalency diplomas, this fall’s exercise also celebrates students receiving bachelor’s degrees from the college.
George is a graduate of Rifle High School, Colorado State University and Harvard Law School. He is chairman of the Boettcher Foundation, and recently served as president of Colorado Northwestern Community College. He has also served as the executive director of the Colorado Department of Transportation, has held leadership roles at the Colorado Division of Wildlife and the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, and was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives and voted by his peers to be Speaker of the House.
“We are so excited that almost 200 students completed degrees or certificates at CMC Rifle in the summer and fall 2017 semesters, so they are eligible to participate in the December commencement,” said Carole Boughton, college vice president and Rifle campus dean. “However, we never know exactly how many students will participate at graduation. We encourage students to RSVP to the campus if they plan to attend. It’s quite an honor to have such a distinguished guest giving the commencement address, and our graduation ceremonies are a wonderful way for students and their families to celebrate reaching such an important milestone.”
