If you want to stop by your local Colorado Mountain College campus May 10 or 11 to sign up for summer classes, you might want to wait until the next day.
As a result of an all-employee conference, all of the college’s campuses and administrative offices – from Rifle to Steamboat to Aspen, and all points between – will be closed at noon Wednesday, May 10, and will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday, May 12.
Close to 400 CMC employees will be descending upon the college’s campus in Breckenridge and the Riverwalk Center for a day and a half of professional development workshops. Employees are also continuing to plan for events honoring the college’s 50th anniversary, which is being celebrated throughout its 12,000-square-mile footprint throughout 2017.
In past years, all-college or all-faculty meetings have rotated among CMC’s 11 learning locations in north-central Colorado. Last year the gathering was held in Glenwood Springs. This year, thanks to support from local businesses, the college is holding the conference in Breckenridge.
Faculty from across the college will gather to discuss best practices in the subject areas they teach, and staff will attend breakout sessions that will re-energize and educate them in better ways to serve their communities and students.
