Yoseline Ayala-Pineda remembers playing with her younger sister and pretending to be nurses. She said she has dreamed of becoming a pediatric nurse ever since. The profession combines her passions for working with children and helping others in need, she said, while also providing for her family.

Originally from El Salvador, Ayala-Pineda moved to Aspen when she was 9 years old. She said her family has always valued education, and that not only will graduating from high school be a huge milestone but she will be the first in her family to attend college.

“Education means a lot to my family. My parents told me that no one will ever be able to take that away from me and I have that forever,” she said.
