Celebration bestows top honors on CMC staff and students
Colorado Mountain College Culinary instructor Travis Smith and a team of Colorado Mountain College Culinary Students were recognized last month at the American Culinary Federation’s (ACF) inaugural Culinary Hall of Fame celebration. Smith was crowned as the Colorado Chef of the Year. The students were chosen as the ACF Colorado Chefs Association Student Team of the Year in recognition of a recent win at the ACF State competition.
It was the eighth time in the 17-year history of Colorado Mountain College’s Culinary Institute program that budding chefs from the school have earned top honors at this statewide contest., held in Cherry Hills, Colorado on February 21, 2011. Smith is currently an Executive Chef at Vail Resort’s One Ski Hill Place at the base of Breckenridge Ski Area, and is a new instructor and supervising chef at the Summit Campus apprenticeship program. His students will travel to the ACF Western Regional Conference, held during the last week of April, to compete for a chance to go to Nationals.
