Sopris Theatre Company, formerly known as CMC Theatre, is presenting “Uncle Vanya,” Brian Friel’s version of the well-known classic play by Anton Chekhov.
Directed by Brad Moore, this sadly funny drama features a cast of local favorites. Uncle Vanya (played by CMC photography faculty member Joseph Gamble) and his niece Sonya (played by Olivia Savard) are hard-working and emotionally reined-in when their lives implode as visitors arrive to the country estate they manage. Vanya falls in love with his brother-in-law’s new, beautiful, young wife, and Sonya falls for a local doctor – though complications arise. Tom Cochran, Cassidy Willey and Gary Ketzenbarger also play key roles.
Performance dates at Spring Valley are April 15-16 and 21-23 at 7 p.m. Matinee performances are at 2 p.m. on April 17 and 24. Tickets are $18/adults, $13/students, seniors and CMC staff and faculty.
“Uncle Vanya” will be performed at the New Space Theatre, Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs-Spring Valley, 3000 County Road 114.
