[GLENWOOD SPRINGS] – Gabrielle Orsi, a Colorado Mountain College learning management system administrator and faculty trainer, was recently honored as the 2013 eLearning Technologist/Support Person of the Year by the eLearning Consortium of Colorado.
The eLearning Consortium of Colorado is a coalition of public and private colleges, universities, K-12 education, private sector business and public television stations dedicated to the enhancement of educational opportunities through distance learning.
Suzanne Thompson, manager of CMC’s office of innovations in teaching and learning, said part of the reason she nominated Orsi was because of the way she helped college employees and students transition to a new online course system called Canvas.
“Gabrielle was nominated and selected for this award not only because of her lead role in facilitating this migration so smoothly, but because of her innovative teaching methods and her humor in marketing workshops and new information to faculty,” Thompson said.
Orsi has been responsible for managing Canvas on a day-to-day basis and answering questions from college staff and faculty. She also works on obtaining new software tools for teaching and plans online trainings for faculty and staff, acting as the liaison between the software vendors and the college.
“I was very pleased that my work was appreciated by Colorado Mountain College and my colleagues,” Orsi said.
