Opening reception set for March 1 at CMC Aspen Gallery
Colorado Mountain College’s Aspen Gallery will feature photographs taken by children living in the slums of Kenya in a “Portraits of Kenya” exhibit opening on March 1.
Andrew Braun, a CMC professional photography program student, spent the fall in Africa teaching photography to a class of 24 students in Nakuru, Kenya, as part of a project with the Roaring Fork Valley nonprofit The Child’s Eye and with support from George Stranahan.
The exhibit will showcase more than 40 images taken by the Kenyan students and portraits by Braun. All photographs will be available for purchase, with 100 percent of proceeds going toward future projects of The Child’s Eye.
An opening reception is set for Friday, March 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. Braun will present a short video of his experience in Kenya. The reception is free and open to the public.
The photographs will be on display from March 1 to April 19 at the CMC Aspen Gallery at 255 Sage Way in Aspen.
