Noncredit culinary classes offered at Colorado Mountain College
Those who enjoy fine food and drink will find memorable opportunities to dine, sip and brew in noncredit recreational culinary classes at Colorado Mountain College in Breckenridge.
Adventurous types seeking an unusual Valentine’s Day dinner can partake in a demonstration-style cooking class with Chef Carolyn Deal, a graduate of the esteemed Le Cordon Bleu Cooking School in London, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14. Participants will enjoy a four-course dinner with scallops, salmon and bison prepared with spirits from the Breckenridge Distillery and finish the evening with Hawaiian chocolate lava soufflé with bourbon crème sauce. Cost is $50.
For the aspiring brewer, the college offers a two-day workshop, Introduction to Home Brewing, Tuesday, March 5, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. The classes will be taught by home brewing expert Robert Deal and will cover everything participants need to know to brew their first five gallons of beer at home. Cost is $55.
CMC also features sommeliers sharing their knowledge in a series of classes about wine in January, February and March. All classes are held from 6 to 8 p.m. and vary from $40 to $45 each:

• Jan. 28 – Port, Sherry & Dessert Wine
• Feb. 11 – Sparkling Wines
• Feb. 25 – Wines of Bordeaux
• March 14 – Wines of Burgundy
• March 25 – Wines of Rhone
