Volunteer opportunities for students this summer at RMNP
Have video and cameras? Media savvy? Journalistically or environmentally inclined? National Geographic Education is looking for student volunteers to work as media producers for the Rocky Mountain BioBlitz event, scheduled for August 24-25, 2012.
The National Park Service and National Geographic Adventure team up each year to document diversity in a chosen region. Rocky Mountain National Park is the selected venue for this summer’s BioBlitz event, and volunteers are needed to work with National Geographic Education staff to create “Geostories”- photos and short video clips that document the environment in creative, fun, engaging ways. Stories created from the event are considered for publication on a National Geographic platform.
Undergraduate and graduate students in Colorado who are majoring in or have taken coursework in environmental sciences, geography, journalism, film, or related disciplines may apply. Each team must have their own photo/video equipment, and editing software capable of delivering video and photos in .mov and .jpg formats. You’ll also need to bring camping gear.
