What is Ballot Initiative 4D?

College asks for the future ability to provide broadband internet

If you’ve been looking at your ballot, you may be wondering: “What’s this 4D initiative about? Is CMC going to become an internet service provider?” Answer: not now, but could be in the future.

Ballot Initiative 4D would exempt Colorado Mountain College from Senate Bill 152, a 10-year-old state law that limits the ability of local governments (including CMC) to provide broadband internet services. 4D appears in all six of the counties in Colorado Mountain College’s district: Eagle, Garfield, Lake, Pitkin, Routt and Summit.
