Aspen ballet alum was eager to start a ‘completely different career path’
Former colleagues of Seth DelGrasso’s in the Aspen-Santa Fe Ballet wouldn’t be that surprised that the former dancer is one of the newest officers in the Aspen Police Department.
“Most would probably say, ‘Yeah, that fits,’” he said this week.
DelGrasso danced with the local company from 1996, when he moved to Aspen from New York City, until 2012. After that, he handled front-of-house duties for Aspen-Santa Fe Ballet until entering the police academy earlier this year.
While still dancing, he got to know longtime Aspen police officers Rob Fabrocini and Walter Chi. They gave him perspective on community policing, the law enforcement theory widely used in the upper valley that stresses problem-solving over arrests.
“Over the years, you start to realize how wonderful this community is, how embracing it is,” DelGrasso said. “Coming here really opened my eyes to the other opportunities that are out there.” Click for full story.
