Sopris Theatre Company will present “The Revolutionists,” a brutal, female-powered comedy set during the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror, at the New Space Theatre at Colorado Mountain College Spring Valley, Nov. 30-Dec. 9.
It is 1793 Paris and Marie Antoinette, playwright Olympe de Gouges, Haitian rebel Marianne Angelle and assassin Charlotte Corday are beating back the extremist insanity. This comedy written by Lauren Gunderson is about violence and legacy, art and activism, feminism and terrorism, and how these women go about changing the world.
“The Revolutionists” will run Nov. 30-Dec. 1 and Dec. 7-8 at 7 p.m., and Dec. 2 and Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. at CMC Spring Valley at Glenwood Springs, 3000 County Road 114. Admission is $18 for adults, and $13 for students, seniors and CMC employees. Tickets are available at eventbrite.com.
