The season opener for Sopris Theatre Company at Colorado Mountain College is “A Resume for Immortality,” written and performed by Gary Ketzenbarger, theater program coordinator for the company, as well associate professor of speech and theater and a tai chi instructor at the college.

This solo performance combines storytelling with movement, and focuses on tai chi as the embodiment of the natural flow inherent in Taoism. The actual life depicted in the play is the playwright’s own as Ketzenbarger illustrates the redemptive value of tai chi.

Ketzenbarger performed his play in fall 2015 at Theatre Row on 42nd Street in New York City at the United Solo Theatre Festival, the world’s largest solo theater festival. Noted participants in the festival’s six-year history have included Billy Crystal, Anne Hathaway and Kevin Spacey.

The performance at CMC is directed by Brad Moore. Tickets are $18 for adults and $13 for students, staff, faculty and seniors. Season tickets for Sopris Theatre Company’s six-performance season are also available for $60 ($40 for seniors, students and CMC faculty and staff), and can be purchased at eventbrite.com.

Curtain is 7 p.m. on Sept. 16-17 and 2 p.m. on Sept. 18 at the New Space Theatre at Colorado Mountain College Spring Valley, 3000 County Road 114.
