Sopris Theatre Company at Colorado Mountain College calls for actors for ‘Uncle Vanya’

Sopris Theatre Company, formerly known as CMC Theatre, will hold open auditions for “Uncle Vanya” from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25 at Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs-Spring Valley.

Sopris Theatre Company, formerly known as CMC Theatre, will hold open auditions for “Uncle Vanya,” Brian Friel’s version of the well-known play by Anton Chekhov. Auditions will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25 at Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs-Spring Valley, and callbacks will be held Tuesday, Jan. 26.

Two people – Uncle Vanya and his niece Sonya – are at the core of “Uncle Vanya.” Their hard-working, emotionally reined-in lives implode when visitors arrive. Vanya falls in love with his relative’s beautiful young wife, and Sonya falls for a local doctor. Copies of the script are on reserve at the Quigley Library on the Spring Valley campus.

The cast consists of roles for six male characters aged 18 to 70s and four female characters aged 18 to 80s. Performance dates at Spring Valley are April 15-17 and 21-24. The play is directed by Brad Moore.

Those auditioning are asked to prepare a short monologue.
