RSVP program looking for a few good volunteers

High Country RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteers Program), a sponsored program of Colorado Mountain College, has been offering tax assistance to seniors and low to moderate income individuals in Garfield County at no charge for seven years.

The organization is looking for volunteers to help with this year’s program. RSVP offers training, utilizing IRS materials, to any individual interested in volunteering through a non-credit CMC class, and the required commitment is just a few hours a week through the spring. The experience is a great opportunity for business or accounting students in need of real world experience in tax preparation.

The training takes place as a non-credit tax training class on Thursday, Jan. 17, from 9 am – 4 pm and Friday, Jan. 18, from 9 am – 12 pm at the Glenwood Center.  Lunch will be served both days. Interested students, faculty and staff are requested to contact Patty Daniels, RSVP Program Director, at 970-947-8461 or pdaniells@coloradomtn.edu.
