CMC Info Fairs on the Front Range
Every year, Central Admissions sponsors two recruiting/information fairs in Colorado Springs and Westminster. These events are intended to help all CMC campuses to pro-actively recruit potential students into their programs. With help from a wide range of CMC volunteers from many campuses, the events were again very successful.
The weather cooperated both nights, and so there were no unexpected curve-balls this year. On Wednesday night, January 26th, sixteen prospective students and their families made for about 35 attendees at the fair in Colorado Springs, and on Thursday night, January 27th, fifty students attended—with their families the room swelled to about ninety people present in Westminster.
Faculty members are always very popular at these events, and CMC faculty didn’t fail to represent. Central Admissions would like to thank: Dr. Bruce Kime, Dr. Kent Clement, China Kwan, Heather Weems, Bee Manwaring, Erin Beaver, Townie Anderson, Chris Petralia, and Tyler Vaughan all for being at one or both events.
CMC Alumni were out in force as well. Thank you to Ultra Donahue, Liz Scheffler, Christie Cline, and Melanie Ross for volunteering to support CMC.
Also thank you to the CMC Alumni Office, and special thanks to Jeff Myers of the CMC Vet Tech program for helping us find Alumni willing to volunteer. If anyone needs an adjunct art instructor for their campus, I know of a CMC alumni with a MA in Art Education who would be interested (seriously).
Current CMC students without a doubt get asked more questions at these events than anyone else—often questions that should have been directed at more faculty. Thank you to our student volunteers for rising to the challenge this year: Nick Garay, Austin Kramer, and the “three amigas” Cinthia Lanza, Crystal Tapp, and Veronica Saenz. All of these represented CMC with honesty, and of course outshone the rest of us in general.
CMC staff of all types are also important at the events. Thank you to Abbie Kroesen, Brandon Fox, Stephanie Fletcher, Mary Laing, Vicky Valentine, Ted Phillips, Marsha Arzy, and Bryan Renfro.
The CMC Marketing Department makes advertising these events possible. In particular, Frank Martin has was indispensable as usual. The CMC Public Information Office also put out press releases to support our advertising.
Looking at the initial results, already about 13 students have applied after attending the events. Now it’s everyone’s job to keep these applied students engaged and get them to register and attend!
Whew, it feels like an Oscar acceptance speech, but truly, thank you all—we couldn’t have done it without you.
