[Edwards] – On Tuesday, April 8, The Princeton Review founder and lifelong education entrepreneur John Katzman will speak at Colorado Mountain College in Edwards. Doors to the event open at 5 p.m., the talk begins at 5:30 p.m. and a VIP cocktail reception with Katzman will follow immediately afterwards.
The presentation, entitled “Gradually, then Suddenly: Disruption in Higher Ed,” will focus on the impacts, both pro and con, of technology in the field of education. Katzman’s entire career has focused on an out-of-the-box approach to education, pushing the boundaries of how we teach and how we learn. His innovative ideas have led him to found three companies.
He is the current CEO and founder of Noodle Education, a search and recommendation engine for schools, tutors, instructional videos, coaches and any other education resource. Prior to Noodle, he founded and worked as the CEO of 2U, an edtech company that partners with prestigious universities to offer online degree programs. And in 1981, while still a student at Princeton University, Katzman founded The Princeton Review, where he served as CEO until 2007. He also serves on the board of several nonprofit organizations, and is the author and co-author of five books and numerous articles.
Colorado Mountain College’s Women in Philanthropy group will host Katzman as part of their Distinguished Speaker Series for 2014. Formed in 2012, Women in Philanthropy inspires and empowers accomplished women to become visionary donors – creating a collective, significant force while supporting Colorado Mountain College’s programs, student scholarships, faculty, capital and cultural enrichment.
