Colorado Mountain College Aspen will present a free opening reception for “Derek Johnston: Thirty Years of Image Making, A Photographic Retrospective,” at the Aspen campus, 0255 Sage Way, Aspen Business Center.
The reception for Johnston’s photographic retrospective will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sept. 26. The public is welcomed and encouraged to attend.
Johnston’s fine art landscape photography is exhibited and collected throughout the United States, including at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, which also included his work in the museum’s critically acclaimed anthology, “Photography’s Multiple Roles: Art, Market, Document, Science.” In addition, the Colorado Council on the Arts awarded him with an individual artist’s grant in visual arts.
Johnston is a professor at Colorado Mountain College Spring Valley and the director of the professional photography program at the Isaacson School for Communication, Arts and Media.
If you’d like more information, or want to view the exhibit at a time other than the Sept. 26 opening, call 970-925-7740 for gallery hours, as classes and meetings are often held in the gallery.
