Phase One of CMC IT single sign-on completed

CMC’s Information Technology Department (IT) has been busy creating a process to allow CMC staff and students to possess a single username/password that will work across many systems at CMC.

Phase One is now complete. This phase includes WebAdvisor, MyCMC and CMC provided e-mail. Other systems, such as Canvas, will follow in the next phase.

On the morning of July 14th, these systems started authenticating against a single source using your standardized username. Faculty, staff and students need to register to use the CMC Password Manager. It is easy and fast to complete. Please follow the directions and screen shots provided by the IT department below.

Note:  Students will need to remember two things.

1)    Your username for MyCMC, CMC provided e-mail and WebAdvisor will be the same as your current WebAdvisor username.

2)    Your password will be reset to your personalized default password. This means it will be CMC+the last 6 digits of your SSN. If you do not have an SSN, it will be CMC+MMDDxx where MM is your birth month and DD is the birth day and two lowercase x’s .

FOR ALL USERS: WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:

The link to register can be found on our CMC home page. From the home page hover over Canvas/Tools and then from the drop down menu select CMC Password Manager.

From here the Password Manager will open and look like the screen shot below.

Click NEXT to begin the process. Note: you are entering the CMC Password Registration Portal.

Enter your default personalized password. To register you must know your password. If you have not registered or are having issues with your default personalized password, please call the Technical Service Desk at 866-642-0495, 970-947-8438 or extension 8438, if you are calling from a CMC phone. Registration requires your using the default personalized password. All previous passwords you have used are no longer valid. Please register as soon as possible.

NOTE: If you have any issues with the functionality of the CMC Password Manager, try switching browsers. For example, if you receive a 404 Server Error on the web page using Mozilla Firefox, try using Google Chrome.
