Sopris Theatre Company at Colorado Mountain College will present its first production of the season when “Hope and Gravity” lights up the stage at CMC Spring Valley Oct. 18-27.
Nine people’s lives intersect in surprising ways when a big-city elevator dislodges and crashes. It’s all here – comedy and tragedy, love and sex – in offices, homes and hotel rooms. Jill longs for Steve, who’s engaged to Barb, who hooks up with Peter, who’s having an affair with Nan. Marty’s married to Nan and subscribes to “Elevator World.” Meanwhile, nine floors above the ground Douglas meets Tanya, who’s hoping to get pregnant with Hal – and a little miracle changes hands.
Written by Michael Hollinger and directed by Brad Moore, the play features five regional actors, most playing multiple roles. Cast members are Josh Adamson, Michael Banks, Christina Cappelli, Bostyn Elswick and James Steindler.
Curtain for “Hope and Gravity” will be 7 p.m. Oct. 18-19 and Oct. 25-26. Matinee performances will run at 2 p.m. Oct. 20 and 27, all at the New Space Theatre, Calaway Academic Building at CMC Spring Valley, 3000 County Road 114.
Admission is $18 for adults and $13 for seniors as well as CMC students, employees and graduates.
