In 2020, the Grizzly Creek Fire burned 32,000 acres in the Glenwood Canyon area. Starting this spring, Roaring
Fork Outdoor Volunteers, as a leading member of the Glenwood Canyon Restoration Alliance, will begin restoration work through volunteer collective action. With the help of community members, restoration efforts are expected to last at least seven years throughout the burned area.
Colorado Mountain College Glenwood Springs is hosting “The 5 Tools that Make Grizzly Creek Fire Restoration Possible,” the latest installment of the college’s Gift of Education Free Lecture Series. The talk will focus on the five tools and techniques organizers are implementing during restoration, including observation, collaboration, action, sharing through education and adaptation. Organizers will be available to answer questions at the conclusion of the talk.
