Dr. Jonathan King, who for the past year has served as the campus dean of academic affairs for Colorado Mountain College in Lake and Chaffee counties, has been named the interim vice president for the campus. Previous vice president Mike Simon has accepted the presidency of Dawson Community College in Montana.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to work with an outstanding group of professionals at both the Leadville and Chaffee locations, who are just as passionate as I am to serve the diverse needs of our students and community members,” said King.
Before joining CMC, King served for five years as the dean of business and applied technology at Evergreen Valley College in San Jose, Calif.
“I appreciate Dr. King’s willingness to serve in this interim role,” said Dr. Charles R. Dassance, interim president for the college. “His leadership and academic experience will provide continuity to the campus until a new president for the college is hired this fall. Once a new president is in place, our plan is to advertise the vice president position.”
King has a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Texas in Austin, a Master of Arts in educational leadership from Harvard University, a Master of Arts from the International University of Japan in Niigata, Japan, and a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Morehouse College.
