Internationally exhibited artist’s show to reopen Colorado Mountain College gallery

The public is invited to a reception celebrating the re-opening of Colorado Mountain College’s ArtShare gallery in its new location, 802 Grand Ave., Glenwood Springs, from 6 to 9 p.m. July 20. The work of Santa Fe-based abstract artist Michael Kessler will be featured at the gallery July 20-Sept. 6.

Colorado Mountain College will celebrate the reopening of its downtown Glenwood Springs gallery in its new home, with an exhibit from renowned Santa Fe artist Michael Kessler.

Kessler’s abstract paintings have brought him international honors, including the Rome Prize for painting from the American Academy in Rome, New York’s Pollock-Krasner Award and independent study through New York’s Whitney Museum of American Art. Originally from Pennsylvania, Kessler now resides and paints in Santa Fe. His work has been exhibited worldwide, at dozens of galleries and museums throughout the U.S. and Europe.

His latest exhibit, “Opulent Abstractions of the Natural World,” will be on display July 20-Sept. 6, at the CMC Gallery, 802 Grand Ave. To access the gallery, enter through the new Visitor Center, which is jointly operated by Colorado Mountain College and the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association.

An opening reception is set for Friday, July 20, from 6 to 9 p.m., in a celebratory event hosted by both the college and the chamber. The gallery is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is operated by CMC ArtShare. For more information, call 947-8367 or visit cmcartshare.com.
