High school students invited to First Generation College Day at CMC Oct. 23

Colorado Mountain College in Leadville is hosting the third annual First Generation College Day from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 23, on a day when Leadville schools are not in session. The free event is for high school students preparing for college and future careers, and their family members.

The day will start with a welcome, registration and light breakfast at 8:30 a.m., followed by workshop sessions at 9:30 a.m. Workshops will cover the college application process, scholarship search and placement strategies, and college prep programs including earning college credit while in high school. Lunch and an activity will take place at 12:30 p.m., and a student panel will close out the day. Prizes and T-shirts will also be offered to participants.

All events will be held at the Climax Molybdenum Leadership Center at Colorado Mountain College’s Leadville campus, 901 S. Highway 24. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event in the Climax Building. Questions? Call Jan Krueger at 719-486-4266.
