A group exhibition at the Colorado Mountain College Aspen campus will feature the work of more than 30 local and other Colorado artists, using the form of the book as an inspiration or starting point.
“Open Book: The Book as Object and Image” will run from Jan. 15 through May 7, with a free, public opening reception scheduled for Monday, Jan. 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the gallery, 0255 Sage Way.
Most of the featured artists have created work especially to follow the theme. “The book as we
know it may be diminishing, as the e-book becomes more prevalent,” said K Rhynus Cesark, CMC art faculty. She and co-curator Liz Heller hope the exhibit will bring awareness to the importance of the physicality of books.
Because classes are also held in the CMC Aspen gallery, please call 970-925-7740 in advance to confirm viewing at times other than during the opening reception.
