On Friday, April 10, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper signed House Bill 15-1224, which was carried by Rep. Diane Mitsch-Bush (D, Steamboat Springs), a former CMC faculty member. The bill was written to benefit Colorado’s two locally controlled colleges: Colorado Mountain College and Aims Community College. The legislation was requested by Colorado Mountain College in order to provide greater clarity and flexibility for the use of state funds by CMC and Aims, Colorado’s other locally-controlled college. It was unanimously supported by the Colorado legislature.
