Get Ready for CMC Day!

Colorado Mountain College staff at CMC DayCMC Day is just around the corner.  The Day begins at 8:30 AM ending at 3:00 PM and will be held at the 4 Eagle Ranch on September 25th.

The day starts off with an early morning run with Benedictine Jeanson from 7:30 to 9:00 AM, followed by  breakfast and networking from 9:00 to 9:45 AM. Dr. Jensen will give a “State of the College” address from 9:45 to 10:30, after which you can join on a hayride or one of the many breakout sessions, which explore everything from flycasting, mountain biking, and winemaking to website editing and mastering your email.

Don’t forget to bring your CMC badges; and remember which break-out sessions you sign up for- as no one else is keeping track of that information. And don’t forget, the number one rule for CMC Day is to have fun! Below is a list of the breakout sessions.  Those arriving early for the early morning run should meet at the bottom parking lot of the ranch.  The 4Eagle Ranch is located at 4098 Colorado 131, Wolcott, CO 81655

Geocaching-GPS 101– Dan Eller
Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. A brief how to use your GPS Device, Intro to the web site and other usage with Geocaching to be shown and performed. Card Making with the Brit –Annie Stephens
We will make handmade cards using colorful card stock, rubber stamps/ink and a variety of embellishments.  No drawing ability needed.  Each session will begin with a demonstration.  Being creative is a wonderful way to de-stress, get your blood pressure down and go home with a card or two.   Kearstin will be on hand to assist with “bling”, and Annie will teach you how to speak with a British accent (tea and crumpets not included!)

Fly Casting (on or off the river) – Mark Palz
Bring your fly rods (we cannot rent them, so if you are interested you need to bring one…or watch Mark’s presentation.

Digital Photography Basics – Mat Lit
Get to know your digital camera with a quick intro to the basics!

Yoga-Beginner- Jeanne McCann
An intro to Yoga class that begins with a little meditation and ends with feeling stretched and relaxed.  We’ll work on breathing and asanas(postures) and have some fun! (Bring a mat!)

What’s up with Pluto? Is it a planet or not?  Come learn about the incredible story of Pluto’s discovery, the bitter controversy that eventually led to its demotion, and the NASA spacecraft, speeding towards Pluto at this moment, that proudly claims to be “the first spacecraft to the last planet.”
