We are sorry to share that Wes Duran, CMC’s trustee from Lake County during 2007-2011, has passed away. His service to the college and its students was greatly appreciated, including as board treasurer.
At the April 30, 2010 graduation ceremony of Colorado Mountain College in Leadville, dignitaries and college administrators honored graduates earning associate degrees, certificates of occupational proficiency and GEDs. Duran was a resident of Twin Lakes and a retired 30-year officer of the U.S. Air Force. He brought to the college knowledge earned through his three business degrees, extensive financial and managerial experience, and a background in criminal and constitutional law. He was a director of Sangre de Cristo Electric Association, Inc., and an active member and past president of the Rotary Club of Buena Vista, Colo.
