Dr. Peter Jeschofnig and his wife Linda turned their passion for teaching at Colorado Mountain College into a successful business. The couple both taught at various CMC campuses, Peter in the sciences and Linda in business. That combination was golden when they began Hands On Labs, now based in Englewood.
Peter was a pioneer in distance learning at CMC, and was always looking for ways to give his students access to scientific labs. Linda saw the business opportunity.
From this idea, a company grew. Hands On Labs now produces thousands of Lab Paqs, miniature lab kits for distance learning and home school students. These kits allow students to conduct experiments the same as if they were in a lab at school, giving them freedom to learn scientific principles anywhere.
With the sharp increase in online learning, Hands On Labs has grown to a multi-million dollar company with at 20,000 square-foot facility and several employees. Lab Paqs are shipped to students around the world.
“We grew from the garage to this 20,000 square foot warehouse,” Linda Jeschofnig said.
“We even have students in Iraq and Afghanistan that are taking their courses while they’re in the military. We ship their Lab Paqs overseas to them. I think we’ve had Lab Paqs on every continent now,” Linda Jeschofnig said.
Hands On Labs was recently selected as one of the 50 Colorado Companies to Watch by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade. See the interview on 9NEWS.
