College Interactive Bike Challenge

Colorado Mountain College in first place in nationwide, virtual reality bike challenge

Graphic from the College Interactive Cycling ChallengeStudents at Colorado Mountain College’s Glenwood Springs-Spring Valley campus are currently competing in an interactive national bike challenge for the month of February.  CMC has been in the #1 spot and is seeking riders willing to help them hang onto their lead at an all night riding event tonight, from 6 PM to 6 AM, in the Recker Room on the Spring Valley campus.

Colleges earn one point for every mile ridden on an Expresso stationary bike residing on the Spring Valley campus. CMC’s stationary bike is interactive – students steer and shift while watching scenery from programmed rides and routes.  The college that ends up with the most points per bike wins– and receives  a new $7,000 bike for their campus.

You can track CMC’s status at the following link: http://www.expresso.net/Top100/College?metric=PointsPerBike . CMC staff, faculty and students are encouraged to take part:  Prized including free weight room access for one semester up to two years go to CMC’ers with the highest points.

To get started: Go to expresso.net. Register by first creating your rider ID and password, then fill out basic information and click on “Register Now.”  Next, go to “Account” (it is on the left hand side), click “Log in with Facebook,” and then click “Save settings.”

And then you are set!  You get bonus points for each route you take and points for each mile you ride.  15 minute slots are still available for tonight’s event!
