CMC’s first full-ride scholarships offered for out-of-state students

Students must apply by March 15

Out-of-state students interested in earning an associate degree in digital and new media can apply for Colorado Mountain College’s first full-ride scholarships by March 15.

Aspen residents John and Jessica Fullerton created the Fullerton Family Scholarships specifically for students studying at the Isaacson School for New Media at Colorado Mountain College’s locations in Aspen, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, or Spring Valley, the residential campus near Glenwood.

The scholarships will range between $10,000 and $19,450 per academic year and can be renewed for one additional year for students achieving a GPA of 3.2. Up to six scholarships will be awarded to students.

Students applying should be able to demonstrate a history of strong scholastics including a GPA of 3.0 or greater and a commitment to community and academic activities.

John and Jessica Fullerton created the scholarships to attract out-of-state students to the great state of Colorado and to the digital journalism, marketing, media production, graphic design and professional photography programs offered at the Isaacson School.

The college’s Isaacson School for New Media started credit classes in August, for students wanting to earn an associate degree, as well as noncredit Black Diamond workshops designed to help mid-career professionals and entrepreneurs learn new media skills.

The school is named in honor of author and Aspen Institute President and CEO Walter Isaacson, to acknowledge and thank him for his lifelong experience in media and his outstanding leadership in highlighting the role of community colleges.

Applications for the scholarship are being accepted through the CMC Foundation and must meet the deadline of March 15. Interested individuals should contact Carol Efting, coordinator of scholarship programs, at 970-947-8355 or cefting@coloradomtn.edu, or apply online at https://coloradomtn.info/scholarships.
