STEAMBOAT SPRINGS – A second book of poetry written by Colorado Mountain College English Professor Lindsey Royce will be published next fall by Press 53, a literary publishing house based in North Carolina.
Royce earned a Ph.D. in creative writing/poetry and literature from the University of Houston. Her poems have appeared in numerous American periodicals and anthologies, including Cutthroat: A Journal of the Arts, Poet Lore and Washington Square Review, to name a few. Her first poetry collection, “Bare Hands,” came out in September 2016 to strong reviews like author and poet Molly Peacock’s, who called the book “a virtuoso debut.”
Her new book, “Writing Bareback,” is a collection of poetry that examines themes of love and tenderness — love of others, country and nature. “The collection explores the tensile strength of tenderness regarding self, fellow human travelers and the world,” said Royce. “In particular, it questions the current state of politics and social circumstances in the United States and globally, as well as celebrates the pure joy of being in nature.”
Press 53 has published numerous well-known poets and emerging poets since October 2005. According to the company’s website, they have earned a reputation as a quality publishing house of short fiction and poetry collections.
