GLENWOOD SPRINGS – The Colorado Mountain College District is seeking outstanding candidates to run for three positions on its elected board of trustees. Each term is for four years.
Each potential candidate must be an eligible elector, as defined by state statute, and reside within the boundaries of the trustee district in which they submit their petition to run. The three trustee districts with seats up for election are located within specified boundaries in Pitkin County (trustee district 1), western Garfield County (trustee district 3) and Eagle County (trustee district 7). Interested residents may contact the college for the detailed boundary descriptions for trustee districts within any of the above counties.
Two incumbents, Glenn Davis of trustee district 7 and Mary Ellen Denomy of trustee district 3, will not run this year because they are term-limited after serving two terms. Incumbent Charles Cunniffe of trustee district 1 has not yet officially declared whether he will run for re-election.
To be eligible as a candidate in the November general elections, qualified residents must file a petition to run. Petitions are available from the college’s Central Services administration office in downtown Glenwood Springs starting Aug. 9. Petitions, including at least 50 qualifying signatures, must be returned to the college’s district administration office by Sept. 1, 2017, by 1 p.m. The election will be held Nov. 7, 2017.
Potential candidates or those with questions should contact Debbie Novak at 802 Grand Ave., Glenwood Springs, CO 81601, or 970-947-8365.
