GLENWOOD SPRINGS – If you happen to bump into more Colorado Mountain College employees than usual in your favorite local haunts this week, don’t be surprised.
Hundreds of CMC employees will be filling local hotels, restaurants, attractions and stores as they descend upon the college’s Glenwood Center and Morgridge Commons for two days of professional development workshops, meetings and end-of-year celebrations.
“We are thankful for the hospitality of the Glenwood Springs community in welcoming so many of the CMC team to the Roaring Fork Valley,” said Dr. Carrie Besnette Hauser, president and CEO of the college. “Thanks to sponsors like the Glenwood Canyon Brewpub, Defiance Rafting, the Glenwood Escape Room, Hotel Glenwood Springs, the Hotel Denver, Iron Mountain Hot Springs and Providence Apothecary, our faculty and staff from a dozen locations throughout our nine counties are able to enjoy the hospitality of this great city.”
In past years, all-college or all-faculty meetings have rotated among CMC’s numerous campuses in north-central Colorado. Faculty from across the college will gather to discuss best practices in the subject areas they teach, and staff will attend breakout sessions that will re-energize and educate them in better ways to serve their communities and students. This year’s keynote speaker is Bob Chapman, CEO of Barry-Wehmiller and author of “Everybody Matters: The Extraordinary Power of Caring for Your People Like Family.”
As a result of the all-employee meetings, all of the college’s campuses and administrative offices – from Rifle to Steamboat to Aspen, and all points between – will be closed from noon Wednesday, May 9, through 8 a.m. Friday, May 11.
