Film event raises funds for avalanche education
Love great film? Passionate about human-powered winter backcountry experiences? The Winter Wildlands Alliance is teaming up with CMC in Breckenridge this weekend to bring you the Backcountry Film Festival, which showcases the work of grassroots filmmakers documenting stories of backcountry skiing and environmental preservation.
This year’s festival includes “Skiing The Void,” a recent production from the award-winning filmmakers at Sweetgrass Productions. The line-up also includes “Unicorn Sashimi” and “Freedom Chair”– both crowd favorites at Telluride Mountainfilm last year. Additional films include “The Denali Experiment,” “Further,” “Stories of Trust” and “Alaska Wilderness Ski Classic.”
Tickets are $15 at the door. Films start at 7 PM at CMC in Breckenridge, with a pre-screening social event at 6 PM. There’s an After Party at The Warming Hut from 9 – 11 PM. Proceeds from the event support womens’ avalanche education and scholarships. For online tickets: www.cmcspeaks.com.
