Waterman focuses on the minute details of antique objects by transforming them into colorful abstract art pieces through her macro lens. She discovered her love of reclaimed items – and seeing them in a new light – selling antiques and restoring an 1800s barn with her late husband.

“The bold transformations, peeled-back layers and rich patinas in my photographs are metaphors for my life,” wrote Waterman in her artist’s statement. “I’m intrigued with the process of scrutinizing the space between foundation and façade in the hope of experiencing surprise, new promise and beauty.”

The reception will take place 6-8 p.m. on July 20 at the CMC ArtShare Gallery at Morgridge Commons, 815 Cooper Ave., 2nd floor in downtown Glenwood Springs. The reception is free and open to the public. Waterman’s work is on exhibit in the gallery Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Aug. 29.
