Federal grant will help CMC create job-training partnerships
A consortium of Colorado community colleges will get a $17.2 million federal grant to help train workers for new jobs.
The money is part of $500 million awarded to community colleges around the country by the U.S. departments of labor and education.
“This is the kind of investment we must make if we are going to position our state — and our nation – to win in the global economic race,” U.S. Sen. Mark Udall, D-Colo., announced.
The Colorado consortium will be led by Community College of Denver. The grant will go toward creating job-training partnerships with employers in growing industries, such as clean energy and water-quality management. The schools will build programs that meet industry needs.
In addition to Community College of Denver, the members of the consortium are: Aims Community College, Colorado Mountain College, Front Range, Community College, Northeastern Junior College, Red Rocks Community College, Community College of Aurora, Lamar Community College, Otero Junior College, Morgan Community College, Pikes Peak Community College and Colorado Northwestern Community College.
