Roaring Fork Cultural Council hosts a dialogue with the Calaway boys Jan. 29
The Roaring Fork Cultural Council, in partnership with Colorado Mountain College and the Thunder River Theatre, is pleased to host a dialogue with Jim, James and John Calaway on Sat. Jan. 29 in Carbondale.
Jim Calaway is well known as a generous benefactor of numerous causes in the valley, from arts and education to health care and animal welfare. He has long been involved in the Aspen Institute, serving at one time as chair of both the Society of Fellows and the Council of Honorary Trustees.
Jim and his twin sons James and John have been together involved in the oil exploration business for many years. John is currently the chief development officer for a wind energy corporation, Pattern Energy, which has built more than 20 commercial wind farms so far in North America. James is now chairman of the board of Orocobre, Limited, one of the largest and lowest-cost producers of lithium.
The Calaways plan to address “The Future of Energy: From Old to New.”
The Roaring Fork Cultural Council brings nationally and internationally known figures to the Roaring Fork Valley, speaking on cultural, political and ecological issues in their areas of expertise. Last month the council hosted a sold-out dialogue with former U.S. secretary of state Madeleine Albright.
The program begins at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Thunder River Theatre, located at 67 Promenade in Carbondale. Tickets are $10, and seating is limited. For more information and tickets, please visit www.rfculturalcouncil.org.
