STEAMBOAT SPRINGS – Close to 400 Colorado Mountain College employees will gather at the college’s Steamboat Springs campus and The Steamboat Grand Hotel for a day and a half of professional development workshops and meetings.
“We appreciate the welcome we have already received as we are planning this time with our Steamboat Springs faculty and staff,” said Dr. Carrie Besnette Hauser, president and CEO of the college. “It’s great for all our employees to experience life at another campus, and to shop, dine and recreate in a different community every year.”
Each year, all-college employee meetings rotate among CMC’s 11 locations in north-central Colorado. Faculty from across the college gather to discuss best practices in the subject areas they teach, and staff attend breakout sessions that re-energize and educate them in better ways to serve their communities and students.
Tina Evans, CMC Steamboat Springs sustainability studies professor, said she would like to acknowledge Julia Farwell, a recent sustainability studies graduate, for her waste reduction, recycling and composting efforts for the event. “Thanks goes to the CMC Beekeeping Club and to club leaders Kate Brocato and Brooklyn Hughes who have made beeswax-based lotion bars for all the attendees,” Evans said.
Julia Bennett, events and alumni relations coordinator, and Elizabeth Diamond, regional development officer for the CMC Foundation, also expressed gratitude to Sodexo, The Steamboat Grand Hotel and Callahan Capital Management for their donations in support of this event.
As a result of the employee event, all of the college’s campuses and administrative offices – from Rifle to Steamboat to Aspen to Leadville, and all points between – will close at noon Wednesday, May 8, and will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday, May 10.
