Alice Beauchamp, former director of the CMC Center for Excellence in the Arts and now director of ArtShare, said the new name better expresses Colorado Mountain College’s growing partnerships with arts organizations and artists in the communities served by the college.
As Alice explained: “ArtShare says, ‘We want to join with you to make the arts vibrant and thriving where we live.’ ”
Established in 1996, the Center for Excellence in the Arts produces a touring concert series to honor philanthropists, the Jim Calaway Honors Series. It also develops and displays visual art exhibits at the Colorado Mountain College Gallery in downtown Glenwood Springs and at the college’s campuses.
“As our outreach programs expand, we hope to help make the arts more and more visible in the public places in our community,” said Alice. “Our new identity keeps us focused on that goal and aligns us closer to the College.”
Working with the Colorado Mountain College Marketing & Communications Department, Alice sought to refresh the CMC community arts brand, while aligning it more closely to the main College brand. This supports the College’s efforts to create and support community partnerships and strengthens its presence in the arts community.
Throughout the college district, the Center for Excellence in the Arts has always been a conceptual arts resource, rather than an actual physical center, Alice explained. The new name more accurately reflects that reality.
