Sopris Theatre Company at Colorado Mountain College’s December production is a play that The New Yorker has called a “… funny, ironic, and affectionate comedy.”

Directed by Brad Moore at CMC, “Uncommon Women and Others” was written by Wendy Wasserstein. It focuses on five women who gather in a restaurant six years after graduating from Mount Holyoke College in the early 1970s and recall their experiences attending a competitive Seven Sisters school.

Funny, touching and brutally honest, the experiences of the all-female cast mirror modern ones. The play, written 40 years ago, addresses the wave of feminism that rocked the ’70s and shows how far society has come on some issues – while others have not changed.

“Uncommon Women and Others” will be performed Dec. 1-2 and 7-9 at 7 p.m., and Dec. 3 and 10 at 2 p.m., in the New Space Theatre, Colorado Mountain College Spring Valley at Glenwood Springs, 3000 County Road 114. Tickets are $18 for adults and $13 for students, seniors and CMC employees.
